A construction fleet is a system of machines that work together. Buying the right mix — and the right sizes — keeps projects on schedule and on budget.
The core fleet
Most general construction fleets need:
- Excavator — digging, trenching, lifting, demolition. A 20-ton is the versatile default; add a mini for tight work.
- Wheel loader or skid steer — material handling, stockpile work, site cleanup. A skid steer for compact sites; a wheel loader for higher volumes.
- Backhoe loader — a flexible machine that digs and loads for smaller projects.
- Bulldozer — grading, stripping, and pushing material. A crawler dozer for earthmoving.
- Dump truck — moving material on site. Articulated for off-road; rigid for highway.
- Compactor or vibratory roller — finishing subgrade and pavement.
Size to your project volume
A fleet that is too small bottlenecks the schedule; too large wastes money on idle machines. Match excavator buckets to truck size, and truck capacity to daily haul requirements. A common starting point: one excavator, two to three trucks, one loader, one dozer, one compactor.
New vs built-to-order
IGC equipment is built to order. That means you specify the engine, hydraulics, tracks, cab, and attachments to match your jobs — not a one-size-fits-all machine. For a fleet, consistent configuration across machines simplifies maintenance, parts, and operator training.
Attachments multiply capability
A quick coupler and a set of attachments — buckets, augers, breakers, grapples, plates — turn each carrier into several machines. Specify auxiliary hydraulics up front so every machine can run every attachment.
Fleet purchasing
For fleet buyers, IGC configures a matched set of machines with consistent branding, controls, and parts. Tell us your project type, volume, and site conditions — we build the fleet.
